Both of these styles have a visual texture and intentional roughness to them.
The simple style will only have one or two values of shading to it, and more vibrant/ toony look to it. Line art will stay black but shading can be softened on request.
The rendered style will have several values of shading applied, and a painted top coat on all the line art to soften the look.
